In Orthodox tradition, the priest asks the Godfather "Do you denounce Satan?" 3 times, and the Godfather is supposed to answer positively.
After which the baby is immersed in water and baptized and certain documents are made, with a nominal fee of course, that you are a member of the Eastern Orthodox church.
From then on, that baby is considered a Christian and will go to Heaven even if they aren't taught Jesus' ways, preaching, growing in holiness and even if they believe in the Secular theories about the creation of the world.
That's how things are with the Orthodox Church. I'd ask OneTrueChurch or someone else to give an input about Catholic infant baptism.
I know this topic is old... But its just as you said a TRADITION of man!! If you can find this being done in the scriptures I would love to see so that I my be edified!
Matt Chap 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Infant Baptism is the actual act of baptizing a baby so it would gain salvation. That is done with the baby having an "intercessor" or someone to speak for it, called the Godfather.

Sorry for bringing this topic back up but this is completely wrong.
You will find the Catholic and Orthodox are very similiar when its come to traditions and teaching afterall she is our Sister church (Orthodox). Also we are the largest and oldest Christian Churches in the world.
.Infant Baptism is the actual act of baptizing a baby so it would gain salvation
it's actually the first step of faith, although Orthodox do not believe in Original Sin, they still class it as the first step of faith on the path of Christ.
Catholics believe it wipes away original sins and is the first steps "TO" salvation, the first step of faith. But both Churches believe you can lose salvation.
In Orthodox tradition, the priest asks the Godfather "Do you denounce Satan?" 3 times, and the Godfather is supposed to answer positively.
They actually took this from the Catholic Church after they split of from Christ's church.
After which the baby is immersed in water and baptized and certain documents are made, with a nominal fee of course, that you are a member of the Eastern Orthodox church.
When a Priest of God, baptises them they recieve the Holy Spirit.
A fee is not needed, but any decent person do give money, if money is given the priest does not directly recieve it, but it goes towards the church funds which will be used for charity's, orphanages, hospitals, school, colleges, university's.
Therefore some good happens within the world.
After Baptism, you become a Christian a child of God.
From then on, that baby is considered a Christian and will go to Heaven even if they aren't taught Jesus' ways, preaching, growing in holiness and even if they believe in the Secular theories about the creation of the world.
To say your a Christian you commit alot of sins by spreading lies, this is not the teaching of the Orthodox church at all.
The Catholic church and Orthodox Church both teach to recieve Eternal life, you need to recieve baptism, recieve the sacraments, recieve the flesh and body of Lord Jesus within the divine eucharist without being in Mortal Sin.
Also to not commit Mortal sin, but profess your faith in Christ Jesus in works of faith and not in words alone as most Protestant profess. To fullfill his will. For the Lord did say " not everyone who calls me Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven but those who do the will of my Father" ( not fully correct)
